Ideal Office Furniture

You wouldn’t cast a second glance at a lady who is not attractively attired, would you? The same happens with an office which is not properly laid out with attractive furniture.
Modern management lays a great deal of emphasis on office furniture. After all, an employee spends maximum time at his workplace surrounded by these, so if the ambience is drab, the productivity will also head south!
The most important constituent of furnitures used in an office are office chairs. Employees utilize a major part of their work hours sitting in them (except of course the time spent in catching up on the latest tit bits from the grapevine either in the elevator or at office cafeteria!). So, if management is serious about getting quality output from its employees, it is important that the workplace is decked up with ergonomically designed chairs that reduce fatigue and physical discomfort.
Office chairs come in various sizes, shapes, colors and designs. The CEO should sit in a chair that automatically conveys an impression of power, authority and confidence. A high backed well upholstered chair in soft leather will fit the bill perfectly. In fact, the power and authority wielded by a person can be gauged from the type of chair he sits on. No wonder the expression ’seat of authority’carries so much significance!
So, a lot of thought needs to be spared on designs and sizes of office chairs.
Reception is that part of office area where an outsider interacts with the organization for the first time. Hence, it must be layed out in such a way that he becomes sufficiently impressed and forms a good opinion of the work culture prevalent in the company. Chairs at the reception should be of good quality, brightly hued and comfortable to sit on. But they should not be so comfortable as to tempt the visitor to lounge on them! A crisp and business-like environment must be there at the reception. The furnitures should be chosen accordingly.
Similarly, the chairs in individual workstations should be shaped in such manner that the employees do not develop any sort of physical pain or discomfort while working from them. Obviously they should not be so cozy as to lure them to take an unscheduled nap!
The chairs in a BPO or a call centre should have requisite shape and height so as to allow workers to efficiently discharge their monotonous and thankless job. Same is the case with office chairs placed in the conference room. Some companies prefer to have in their conference rooms those moulded chairs which have foldable tables attached to armrests. This is a very intelligent idea. It motivates employees to take notes without having to constantly search for a suitable resting place for their laptops! Thus these seminars and workshops automatically start having a more productive impact on overall performance levels of employees.
For those who work from home the choice of home office furniture is a very crucial decision which goes a long way to determine productivity and efficiency in the long run. Gone are the inexhaustible expense accounts! Every penny spent on furniture comes from your pocket. So, go for those moderately priced ones which guarantee comfort and durability. Prefer those which have multiple use and can be equally comfortable while using the computer or jotting down an important idea on paper.
